A Real WILD Ride…
Well, it’s time to update the ‘ol history page again. So much has happened for the Wild Bunch since the team was brought to reality in 2003, it’s tough to consider what to include. There are so many highlights, accomplishments, and experiences to try to relate.
Since 2003 the team has grown from 5 to 25 players, 20 on the active roster, and 5 on the reserves. Sadly, members have come and gone, but most have stayed and continue to represent the team honorably and ethically. From 2003 to the 2007 season, Wild Bunch has managed to welcome some of the finest scenario paintball players in the Twin Cities (and other geographic locations) to the ranks of the team.
Since 2003, the Wild Bunch travelled to games all over the country, east of the Mississippi, and some points west. Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, New York, Oklahoma, Texas, and Missouri are our usual stomping grounds, and we made our presence felt every single time we stepped on the field.
Wild Bunch has garnered respect from and given it to players, teams, and promoters at every game we attend. There’s no question about where you’ll find the Wild Bunch on any field we play on. You’ll find us at the spearhead of any major push, flanking maneuver, and base over-run that’s happening, leading the way for our commanders, and constantly in the face of the opposition (unless we decide to be elsewhere, and you’ll know where, when we’re ready to make our presence felt).
Wild Bunch has also had the opportunity to be associated with some terrific sponsors over the years. WDP, Splat Tag, Northern Command Paintball, Fast Signs, Family Friendly Chiropractic, and Sierra Ink have been very gracious to the team, and we continue to promote and support our sponsors to the best of our abilities.
The Hunt For The Cure charity scenario game continues to grow, and has become one of THE games to be at in the Minnesota area. All profits from proceeds gathered by the game are donated to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America. This game is produced by players, for players. This game is the pinnacle of the Wild Bunch season, and we don’t even play in it. The team and the volunteers who graciously give their time and energy to the cause promote, write the scenarios, work the registration and refreshment booths, run and ref the game. We’ve raffled off high end markers and held special donation drives to help gather money, and though our efforts have raised over $40,000 for the HDSA. It truly is a labor of love for us.
Looking to the future, the 2008 season is shaping up nicely. Wild bunch will produce the 4th annual Hunt For The Cure charity game; we’ve renewed our sponsorship with all of our sponsors, including WDP, and have been invited to participate in the Viper Invitational scenario game in May. The inaugural VIP game will have the best teams and players in the country in attendance, and Wild Bunch will be there to represent and help lead the way.
