Giant Big Game 15 = Blowout
Giant big game 15 was held June 6th (D-Day).
Weather was a beautiful 48 degrees, with rain.
The generals were Tim "Thalion" Underbakke for the Midwestern Alliance
(Red-us)
Vs.
Tim "AKA" Pearson for the Great Lakes Crusaders (Blue-them).
AKA was fresh off his Hunt for the Cure victory and this was Thalions command debut.
Darrin and the Splat-Tag crew worked hard on the field in the weeks leading up to the event and it showed.
Two-story octagon tower mid-field, kick-ass pillboxes, and fresh paint for the bases were just a few of the new additions at Splat-Tag. Air fills were great all day long (4500).
Our first orders were to clear the open field, capture the two towers, and secure our mash unit, which was in blue territory.
At the banger, we did just that. Following the tapeline, we approached Tippmann tower. Despite some blues bunkered up across the road, Edgar dropped the flag.
We had a brief shootout with Mayhem. One by one, we picked them off and the whole right side collapsed. That was the demise of the blue team.
They only offered token resistance through the rest of the day. Hours were spent walking the field in search of targets.
Blue team would take a scoring base, but when the time came around to award points, red had re-taken the objective.
Within Wild Bunch, Cutstep earned the "player of the game" title. Jonny-on-the-spot with the LAW, combined with his aggressive play & enthusiasm, make him a great addition to the team.
While I salute the blue players who stayed on the field all day, overall it was a lackluster performance for blue team. If I had to analyze the outcome, I would say that the crappy weather combined with an early beat-down demoralized team blue. A large percentage of them must have spent the day in the staging area, because there wasn't many blues on the field.
